Lumina String Quartet is a vibrant ensemble formed in 2024, inspired by a shared love of music and the natural beauty of North West Tasmania. Bringing together four experienced and passionate musicians—Josie Riches, Katrina Rowe, Sonia Lancaster, and Phillipa Matheson—the quartet blends rich musical backgrounds with a strong commitment to community music-making.

Their repertoire spans from evocative Scandinavian folk melodies to much-loved classical works, performed with warmth, sensitivity, and a deep sense of connection. With experience across teaching, orchestral playing, and chamber music, Lumina offers polished and engaging performances, whether in the concert hall or at special celebrations.
